The North Pole pub in Islington re-opened by Butcher and Barrel pair

The North Pole pub, formerly known as The North Star, has been re-opened by the pair behind the Butcher and Barrel pub group after a full refurb of the Islington venue.

James Morgan and Richard Craig, who operate seven pubs as part of their Butcher and Barrel pub business, have opened The North Pole as a completely independent operation.

The North London boozer will specialise in craft beer, real ale and ciders under its new management and name. The venture, housed in a former off-licence and wholesalers will also offer a take-away drinks service.

The food offering balances traditional British pub favourites such as sausage and mash with gravy and beer battered haddock with chips, peas and tartare sauce alongside US-inspired dishes including pulled pork and beef sliders.

The pub also features a games room, two semi-private areas and an upper mezzanine level for 35.
