Wine Guild of the UK appoints Roy Ackerman as chairman

Roy Ackerman, hospitality expert and president of the Academy of Food and Wine Service, has been appointed chairman of the Wine Guild of the United Kingdom.

Hospitality expert Roy Ackerman has been appointed chairman of the Wine Guild of the United Kingdom

Ackerman will lead the British delegation to the wine producer Fédération Internationale des Confreries Bachiques (FICB) conference in Serbia in June this year as part of the new role. Ackerman was instrumental in bringing the conference to the UK in 2008.

As former chairman of the Restaurant Association, Ackerman is a well-known and respected member of the hospitality industry and remains an honorary vice-president of the organisation while also holding a position at the Academy of Culinary Arts. Ackerman was appointed OBE in 1990 in 2000 was appointed CBE.

The Wine Guild of the UK is designed to promote the wine industry by encouraging knowledge and understanding and supporting UK producers. In addition the Guild also runs a charitable trust.
