Akula Living has designed a new range of outdoor rattan furniture for the hospitality industry, which it claims is maintenance free and designed to withstand the British weather.

The range is available in three collections – Biscay, Colonial and Aegean, all of which come in a variety of colours and consist of formal dining sets, sofa suits and sun lounegrs.

Each collection is made using high-density polyethylene virgin wicker produced by Rehau, a leading manufacturer of artificial polymers.

The wicker is weatherproof and can be left outside all year without fading in colour thanks to its resistance to UV rays.

Fabrics are supplied by Sunbrella, and are hardwearing and also fade resistant. In addition they are mould and mildew resistant, shower proof and feature machine washable covers.

Tim Appleton, managing director of Akula Living, said: “We recognised that the furniture must be low maintenance, easy to clean and durable so it doesn’t have to be dragged in and out when the weather turns inclement. We also realised that cost is an issue so, although it is all manufactured using the highest quality materials, we have ensured our prices are mid-market and affordable.”
