The bar, which first opened on Old Park Lane in 1977, hopes the auction will attract attention from celebrity guests who have frequented the venue over the years.

Items up for auction include the Met’s private booths, DJ decks, which have been used by the Kings of Leon, Oasis and Boy George in the past, glassware, tables, chairs and bar stools.

Tadgh Ryan, general manager of The Met Bar, said: “We’re giving someone the chance to own a major slice of London’s celebrity scene. Everything inside must go - and we can’t wait to see the old Met Bar recreated in someone’s home or office. Watch this space for the new Met Bar.”

The Met Bar will close on 31 July and reopen in September with new decor and menus.

The eBay auction for Teens Unite - Fighting Cancer is now underway (<http://bit.ly/p5gYeH >), with bidding currently sitting at £5k.
