Hot pepper sauce company Hot Diggidy Dog has launched a 5ml single-use glass bottle for its Hot Original Pepper Sauce.

Product details

Originally developed for the Minister of Defence’s 1.6m 24-hour ration pack, the 5ml single use bottle conforms to the limited space that military personal have for provisions. From a consumer point of view the 5ml vials are fun and offer a quick release of flavour and heat. Like the parent product, the 5ml bottle offers a 3-year shelf life.

USP

The product aims to help restaurants and hotels reduce product wastage with a more hygienic alternative to the 57ml bottles the firm currently supplies.

Price

The 5ml bottles RRP is £0.29-£0.49 per unit.

Why you should buy it

Simon Llewellyn, founder of Hot Diggidy Dog, said: “We are opening new doors to the business with this product. By supplying the 5ml bottles rather than 57ml bottles it’s far more attractive to the consumer eating out at pubs, services, restaurants etc. They can buy it at the counter or be offered on the table as an unopened package for their personal use not the half used, messy-looking bottles we often see when dining out.

“Unlike other table sauces, hot pepper and chilli based products can’t use traditional plastic sachet style packaging as the natural acidity of the ingredients would damage the plastic and spoil the product. We looked into a number of different styles, including foil, higher density plastic but glass was really the only viable option. Then it took some time to get the packaging pricing to match our customers’ expectations for the end product.”
