Accor unveils first new-design Ibis Budget hotel in Whitechapel

Accor has opened the first UK site under its Ibis Budget hotel brand, with a 169-bedroom property in London’s Whitechapel.

Ibis Budget London Whitechapel follows the announcement of the revitalisation of Accor’s economy hotel segment.  The Group hopes to divide the Ibis brand family into three sub-brands: Ibis, Ibis Styles and Ibis Budget.

Thomas Dubaere, managing director of Accor UK & Ireland, said: “The new Ibis Budget brand delivers essential comfort at a modest price and will play an integral role in the overall Accor UK business, helping us to meet our pledge to increase our portfolio to 300 hotels by 2015.

“Our first new design Ibis Budget is situated in London’s up-and-coming East End – an area which we expect to provide huge growth potential in the coming years.”

Julien Lamarre has been appointed General Manager at ibis Budget London Whitechapel. The hotel, situated at 100 Whitechapel Road, features Flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi access throughout, and all-you-can-eat breakfast buffets. It also offers a cocoon-style bedroom concept, with LED-lit showers and touch-sensitive reading lights.
