The Arora Group has been granted planning permission to build the first hotel at the new-look Central Terminal Area of Heathrow.

With 298 rooms the hotel will be directly linked to ‘The Queen’s Terminal’ (Terminal 2) allowing passengers to stay on the doorstep of the airport.

It brings the number of bedrooms Arora has in the pipeline at Heathrow to 1048, with the group set to open an adjoining 750-room Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn Express at Terminal 4 in 2018.

Arora’s current hotel portfolio features eight sites, including three in Heathrow, two in Gatwick and one at Stansted Airport.

Surinder Arora, founder and chairman of the Arora Group, said: “The people at the Arora Group are experts in this kind of development…it will meet the demand of guests for a new hotel a short walk to Terminal 2."

Arora said it was in talks with ‘leading brands’ to partner on running the hotel.

It will be the first hotel to open in the redeveloped Central Terminal Area, which is set to undergo a ‘state of the art’ transformation as part of a new-look Heathrow.

Stephen Wilkinson, Heathrow property director, said: “This hotel is a further step in Heathrow’s strategy to provide the world’s best airport facilities and services for our passengers…we are confident it will deliver an amazing experience for hotel guests travelling from Heathrow.“
