London hotels have been ranked as some of the worst for guest satisfaction in the UK and Europe, according to an analysis of six million customer ratings left on www.Hotel.info.

Out of ten largest cities in the UK the capital ranked last with an average rating of 7.12 (out of 10).

Sheffield topped the list for guest satisfaction, scoring 8.03. Liverpool came in second with 7.95, while Leeds (7.82), Bristol (7.80) and Edinburgh (7.64) rounded out the top five.

"The hotels in Sheffield especially distinguish themselves with an above average quality/price ratio as well as a high standard of service and very friendly personnel", as Jörg Malang, CPO at Hotel.info.

Guests who have booked a hotel through the site use a points system (0 to 10 points) to evaluate their stay based on room quality, friendliness of the staff, cleanliness, noise, value for money, fitness/spa facilities, and food.

Hotel.info reported earlier this year that UK hotels were ranked joint worst with their Russian counterparts for 'friendliness and expertise', according to customer reviews left on the site.

Europe

London was also ranked last out of European capital cities, lagging behind Copenhagen (7.19) and Amsterdam (7.22).

Warsaw came top for guest satisfaction with a score of 8.37.

In the overall country rankings the UK was ranked second to last in Europe with an average of 7.39 points, only outperforming Danish hotels which had a score of 7.18.

Slovakian hotels came top with an average score of 8.22.
