Boutique hotel operator Malmaison Hotel du Vin has announced plans to open a Hotel du Vin in Stratford-upon-Avon next year.

The company said it could now announce the hotel's opening - the 17th under the Hotel du Vin brand - after signing a development agreement with Stratford Town Trust to transform two Georgian townhouses in Rother Street into a 48-bedroom hotel.

Hotel du Vin Stratford-upon-Avon, set to open by the end of 2016, is expected to create 60 jobs. Facilities at the hotel will include meeting and private dining rooms, a bistro and a separate banqueting room with the capacity to seat 80 diners.

The property will be the fourth to be developed by the Malmaison Hotel du Vin Group in the last 18 months and follows the purchase, and current conversion to a Hotel du Vin, of Cannizaro House in Wimbledon, south west London and the openings of Malmaison in Dundee and the launch of Hotel du Vin in St. Andrews.

Malmaison Hotel du Vin chief executive Paul Roberts said“We are extremely excited about opening Hotel du Vin in the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon. The hotel’s lifestyle brand is a perfect fit for those attracted to the stunning and thought-provoking Shakespearean sites that make Stratford-upon-Avon such a global destination.

"This development represents Malmaison Hotel du Vin’s significant growth prospects and commitment to deliver an exceptional customer experience in stunning surroundings.”
