Seafood Pub Company announces second Yorkshire site

The Seafood Pub Company (SPC) is to open its second venue in Yorkshire, after acquiring The Fleece in Addingham village as part of its continued expansion push.

The venue is leased from Punch Taverns, and is expected to open in early May.

The 250-cover, 5,000 sq ft country inn features a main restaurant, private dining room, function room, and outside terrace.

The SPC – which is backed by Penta Capital ‒ is set to invest £1.2m in the property.

Damaged by fire in 2015, the site will receive a full renovation, maintaining the historic exterior while adding SPC branding inside.

It will be the 12th​ location overall for the SPC, and the second in Yorkshire, after it announced in February that it had also acquired The Red Lion pub in Harrogate.

The Fleece will open before The Red Lion, however, with the latter not expected until the summer.  

Founded in 2010 by now-managing director Joycelyn Neve (pictured, right), the SPC was originally Lancashire-based, before crossing the Pennines earlier this year.

It seeks to offer quality food, drink and accommodation within country inn- and pub-style sites.

“We are all really excited and cannot wait to open,” says Antony Shirley, SPC executive chef (pictured, left). “We’ve got a fantastic brigade of chefs who will work with the locals to create menus…[including] our signature seafood specials.”

“We are incredibly pleased to announce our second acquisition of 2017,” says Neve. “We’ve had a really warm welcome from all the locals and look forward to serving our food to the people of Addingham and the neighbouring areas.”
