A new BBC Two show is to champion British farmers, growers, and fishermen as part of a country-wide tour hosted by Great British Bake Off 2015 winner, Nadiya Hussain.

Nadiya’s British Food Adventure will see Hussain travel around the country – including the coasts of Devon and Dorset, as well as the Scottish Highlands ‒ visiting food producers and discovering British regional food history.

The eight-part series will then see Hussain cook her own twist on British dishes, using local ingredients from the producers shown, and taking inspiration from the ‘food stories’ of the area.

“Our country’s regional cuisine is much more than tried and tested traditional dishes,” she says. “There are quirky and clever food producers out there who are reinventing British food in unique and exciting ways.

“I can't wait to meet these local food heroes, to find inspiration in the most unusual food stories and unlikely ingredients and then come up with some brand new recipes in the kitchen, adding my own special twist.”

Alison Kirkham, controller of factual commissioning at the BBC, says: “I’m delighted that Nadiya Hussain is embarking on a very special culinary road trip around the UK for BBC Two…the new commissions I’m announcing today demonstrate the on-going ambition of the factual commissioning team to showcase the very best talent on the BBC and to tell brave and important stories.”

Hussain – who is from Luton ‒ first shot to fame in 2015 as the winner of the Great British Bake Off, then on the BBC.

She went on to present the BBC show The Chronicles of Nadiya in 2016, in which she explored her Bangladeshi roots.
