The list, revealed earlier today in London, shows that the group has increased its stable this year by a respectable 55 venues to 655 sites, across brands such as Ask, Zizzi and London-based burger chain Byron, a marked improvement on 2010's growth of just 10 sites.
Last year’s second largest company The Restaurant Group (TRG) also retained its place with 389 venues across the Frankie & Benny’s, Chiquito and Garfunkel brands, a growth of 15 venues since last year.
The group intends to improve upon its growth figure with plans to open between 22 and 27 new restaurants this year , including its 200th Frankie & Benny’s outlet.
However Orchid Group, last year’s third largest operator, has been shunted down to fourth position to make way for Nando’s Group Holdings, which bought Clapham House Group in September last year .
Despite selling off the six-strong Real Greek chain to David Page just last month , the restaurant group, which also operates Gourmet Burger Kitchen, stays just ahead of Orchid with 303 venues.
Those appearing in the second half of the list are attracting just as much attention as the larger players, however. "There is undoubtedly a new round of activity for younger growth businesses seeking equity," Paul Hemming, head of corporate finance at consultancy Zolfo Cooper tells Restaurant magazine.

Pizza Hut
TRG are listed in the UK though - Pizza Hut being listed on the nasdaq may be a factor as they aren't technically a UK-based restaurant group?

Pizza Hut
Thanks for your reply Emma, but it does not make sense - for example, the Restaurant Group is a listed company and it has been included on the R200 list.

Pizza Hut query
Hi CFG - Just checked with Restaurant magazine and the reason Pizza Hut is not on the list is it falls outside the criteria of the R200. To be on the list companies must not be publicly listed on the Stock Market and must be UK based.
Pizza Hut is owned by YUM! Brands which is an American company. It is also publicly listed. Nothing to do with it being a 'Hut', honest!
