No shirt, no problem

London's first naked restaurant is set to return to the capital permanently​ after its sell-out run earlier this year. Founder Seb Lyall told BigHospitality the 'social experiment' had attracted an 'amazing' community, which he was hoping to bring back in the next 3-6 months.

High-fashion hotels

German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld is switching from handbags to hospitality with plans to launch a series of hotels and restaurants worldwide.​ The Chanel creative director confirmed the UK was a 'key target' for his new brand, which will open its debut six-star hotel in Macau, China next year.

Trouble at Peyton & Byrne 

Caterer Peyton & Byrne has gone in to administration after losing its contracts at Kew Gardens and The British Library.​ All 440 staff will keep their jobs after French company Sodexo bought the firms remaining catering contracts, while the Peyton family will retain its bakery operation.

Independent success

The Laslett in Notting Hill took the Outstanding New Hotel prize at this year's Independent Hotel Show awards​, while Kate Levin, general manager at London's The Capital Group, won the Independent Hotelier award. Nearly 4,000 votes were cast by industry members for this year's awards, which took place in London on Tuesday.

Gender pay gap 

Women continue to dominate front-of-house roles, but their salaries still lag behind men, analysis from The Change Group has revealed.​ The study found that male head waiters earn 20 per cent more than their female counterparts, while women restaurant managers took home an average of 10 per cent less than men.
