According to figures from online reservations website Livebookings, the number of couples choosing to spend the evening out of home has increased for the first time in two years.

Just less than half of diners booking through the site have opted to spend the evening at an Italian restaurant, while 21 per cent chose British and 11 per cent chose French.

Last month a Livebookings survey found that more than a third of restaurants asked don’t have a website, making themselves “invisible” to 53 per cent of consumers who research restaurants online before booking a table.
