The Best Western hotel group has added another nine hotels to its portfolio in the UK, with a number of further properties also set to sign on within the next few months.

Seven out of the nine new hotels are located in the Midlands and North of the country, with one property in Scotland and one in South Wales. Their addition to the group’s brand brings new Best Western members signed on this year to 15.

Best Western says it also has “several more” new member hotels in the pipeline, which are likely to be fully activated in the next couple of months.

The nine new hotels add another 550 bedrooms to Best Western’s existing stock of 15,000 rooms in the country. They also bring up the group’s conference facilities to cater for 1,100 delegates, and include three spas, a golf course and a micro-brewery.

The group currently counts 270 three and four-star managed hotels in its UK business.

Competitive hotel market

Keith Pope, Director of Best Western said the boost in new membership is partly a result of independent hotels looking for the network support of a larger group in an increasingly competitive market.

The group provides marketing support to its member hotels, but says it allows each hotel “the freedom for owners to run their businesses as they want to, meaning they can preserve the personality of the hotel they have created.”

“Best Western is experiencing a significant 20 per cent growth in bookings this year, both online and through its call centre, and this is a very attractive proposition to quality independent hotels looking to grow their profile in the increasingly competitive hotel sector,” said Pope.

“Joining up with other like-minded quality businesses makes a lot of sense when you are facing tough competition from the major brands”.

The new hotels in the Best Western brand are:

  • Best Western Feathers Liverpool Hotel, Liverpool
  • Best Western The Queens Hotel, Oban
  • Best Western Cwrt Bleddyn Hotel & Spa, Usk, Monmouthshire
  • Best Western Windmill Village Hotel, Golf & Leisure Club, Coventry
  • Best Western Deincourt Hotel, Newark
  • Best Western Angel & Royal Hotel, Grantham
  • Best Western Forest Hills Hotel, Frodsham, Cheshire
  • Best Western Nottingham Derby Hotel in Long Eaton
  • Best Western Beamish Hall Hotel, County Durham
