The Craft Beer Co is preparing to open its fifth site in Clapham at the end of November, just two years after launching its first pub in the capital.

The pub operator, which secured a free of tie lease through Enterprise on The Manor Arms, Clapham Manor Street, will open its latest venue at the end of the month following a refurbishment.

The move marks the fourth London-based pub for the company, which has venues in Brixton, Clerkenwell and Islington, as well as Brighton.

Managing director Martin Hayes said he was keen to keep up the momentum after opening the first four sites ‘reasonably quickly and without backing’ but was keen to select the right venue.

“Building a business on cash-flow means you cannot make mistakes, you must research your site, understand its trading potential and have the offer to maximise this trading potential,” he said.

“We’ve got a small estate of cracking sites, each trading well. Looking ahead, we’ll continue to consider the numerous offers we receive from landlords and grow the business diligently and in a sustainable way. We’ve spent a great deal of time looking at other sites across the UK and feel it won’t be long until we’re talking about the next tranche of sites for The Craft Beer Co.”

The first Craft Beer Co. site opened in Clerkenwell in June 2011. Hayes went on to open the second site in Brighton in 2012 with Brixton and Islington following rapidly.
