Domino's Pizza plans sit-down UK restaurants
The group was granted planning permission in April to open a takeaway with a 60-cover restaurant in Maidstone.
Documents show the pizza giant has since put in planning applications to open a 40-cover venue in Hull City Centre and a similar dine-in store in Dundee.
They could be some of the first Domino’s with seating to launch in the UK, though the pizza giant already runs sit-down stores in locations including the USA and Australia.
A Domino's spokesperson told BigHospitality: “From time to time, Domino’s franchisees look to trial different store formats and we welcome that. However, the focus is on rolling out our conventional store format and this year we plan to open more stores than ever before.”
The Hull restaurant has been recommended for approval by planning officers and if successful will generate up to 35 jobs.
Its design features a ground floor kitchen and customer waiting area with a separate restaurant space upstairs.
Domino’s was founded in Michigan, USA in 1960 and opened its first UK store in Luton in 1985.
The pizza chain now operates over 11,000 stores in more than 70 international markets.
