‘Super budget’ hotel operator EasyHotel has announced plans to open a £6m 114-room site in central Manchester.

The group have conditionally acquired Bradley House, known as ‘The Flatiron’ building, which is situated approximately ten minutes’ walk from both Manchester Piccadilly and Victoria stations, as well as the main shopping areas in the city.

The purchase of the property is subject to EasyHotel obtaining planning consent for a hotel.

Simon Champion, chief executive officer at EasyHotel, said: “Following so soon after our recent success in securing premises to develop an easyHotel in Liverpool, we are delighted to be investing in another vibrant city. Manchester has substantial international tourism, good economic growth potential, a large population and successful, internationally-renowned universities.

“We expect this new EasyHotel to attract a variety of leisure and business customers looking for good quality accommodation at an affordable price and look forward to being a part of the city’s ongoing success.”

EasyHotel announced earlier this week​ that it would be moving forward with plans to expand both its owned hotel portfolio and franchise business after sales more than doubled over the last year.

The operator reported revenue growth​ of 104 per cent to £2.59m across its three owned hotels in London’s Old Street, Glasgow and Croydon.

Plans are in place for a new easyHotel Liverpool to open early next year.

BigHospitality previously reported that budget brands are predicted to make up 47 per cent of new hotel development​ over the next three years, as the low cost market becomes increasingly diverse.
