Former Pied á Terre co-owner takes on Dabbous site for Loire restaurant
The 2,600sq ft restaurant will be inspired by Germond’s upbringing in the small village of Noizé in the Loire Valley region of France, and will serve a French menu based on simple, convivial, and seasonal ingredients with a rustic cooking style.
The kitchen will be headed up by Ed Dutton, who has worked with Germond at Pied á Terre and Pied Nus. Restaurateur and owner of Pied á Terre David Moore has also advised on the project.
A six-figure premium was secured for the lease, which has 14 years remaining and includes the ground floor restaurant and basement, which was formerly occupied by Oskar’s Bar.
Co-owners Ollie Dabbous and Oskar Kinberg announced in February that their restaurant would be closing at the end of June in order for them to focus their efforts on a new and bigger project. More details of it are yet to be announced, but it is expected to open next year.
“This has been an interesting project to work on particularly because of the perceived inactivity or appetite for paying premiums for lease assignments,” says director of agency and leasing at Davis Coffer Lyons, which acted on the sale.
“It is a fantastic example of a well-located restaurant held on a solid lease with the benefit of a well thought out and high spec fit-out. The deal shows that appetite in the market for quality assets in strong locations is unwavering.”
