The Grosvenor hotel in London’s Victoria has officially become the fifth member of the Guoman Hotels collection following an extensive interior and exterior refurbishment.

The 346-bedroom, Grade-II-listed Grosvenor hotel is London’s oldest railway hotel. The 18-month sympathetic refurbishment project has revitalised the building’s original architectural features as well as adding a new fine dining restaurant, destination bar and gym.

“The reputation and history of The Grosvenor hotel makes it a valuable addition to the Guoman Hotels portfolio and allows us to build on our London presence for 2012,” said Heiko Figge, managing director of Guoman and Thistle Hotels.

“We have invested a great deal into blending the hotel’s original charm with modern day comforts to reinstate The Grosvenor as one of the grandest and most well-loved hotels in London.”

The full refurbishment of The Grosvenor hotel includes:

  • The creation of Grand Imperial, a stunning Cantonese fine dining restaurant which includes a private dining room for 20.
  • The sweeping marble staircase at the heart of the building now leads to a new destination bar, Réunion.
  • A new conference space where all of the rooms are named after iconic trains.
  • The creation of nine new meeting rooms on the first floor, with accommodation for groups of up to 110.
  • A new manned business centre.
  • Restoration of the lounge area.
  • The creation of three new executive Suites including a separate lounge area.

The Guoman Hotels UK portfolio consists of four other hotels in London; Charing Cross, The Cumberland, The Royal Horseguards and The Tower.
