InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is continuing with the expansion of its boutique hotel chain with the signing of a 92-bedroom Hotel Indigo in Stratford-upon-Avon.

IHG has signed a deal with St James’s Hotel Group to operate the brand under a franchise agreement. The site will open in early 2018.

The property will be rebranded from the current Falcon Hotel and will feature a restaurant, bar and lounge, as well as a gym and meeting room.

Anna Corkill, development director for the UK & Ireland said: “The boutique hotel market is the fastest growing segment in the industry and our pioneering Hotel Indigo brand is going from strength to strength in the UK. The great location of this hotel coupled with its quintessentially British appeal positions it as a destination in its own right.”

Shaun Robinson, chief executive of St James’s Hotel Group, said: “We’re delighted to be expanding our portfolio of IHG hotels in this great location with this Hotel Indigo property. Stratford-upon-Avon is a historical place with a fantastic range of tourist attractions for guests to choose from.”

There are currently nine Hotel Indigo properties open in the UK and a further eight are in the pipeline.

In Europe, there are 19 properties open with a further 11 hotels in IHG’s development pipeline.
