Former The Ledbury chef James Cochran is to launch a follow up to his low-budget but well-received eponymous City restaurant.

The as yet unnamed 2,111 sq ft restaurant will be located at the Angel Central development in Islington and will trade alongside larger, more mainstream restaurant brands including Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Wagamama.

Opening late this summer, the restaurant will serve a modern British menu with some items - including Cochran’s famed jerk chicken - drawing on the chef’s Caribbean roots. Produce will be sourced as locally as possible and the restaurant will also use some foraged ingredients.

The interior will include an open plan kitchen, cocktail and wine bar, DJ booth and stage table and will provide space for about 60 covers inside and a further 20 covers outside.

“This prime north London location is perfect for the next stage of our expansion. Angel Central offers a diverse and vibrant mix of retail and leisure and we are thrilled to share our food with the people of Islington,” says Cochran.

Cochran’s CV includes a five year stint at The Ledbury in Notting Hill. Prior to opening James Cochran EC3 late last year the chef ran a number of collaborations and pop-ups including Camberwell Love, FIX in Hackney, and a summer collaboration with B.Y.O.C. Soho on Great Windmill Street.

BNP Paribas and CBRE represented Angel Central.
