Russian restaurant group Samarqand is to make its UK debut, following the acquisition of a site in Marylebone, London

The group, which has four outlets in Moscow, plans to open an upmarket Russian restaurant in property company Starclass’s Marylebone South Development (pictured), located at the junction of Marylebone High Street and Hinde Street.

Samarqand will serve Central Asian and Eastern Chinese food aimed at the 280,000 Russians living in London.

The restaurant takes its name from the city Samarqand, which was one of the first developed cities of Central Asia located on the Silk Route.

Davis Coffer Lyons acted for the group, and reported a high level of interest for the site and the area as a whole.
