Mexican chef Martha Ortiz has announced plans to open a restaurant at the InterContinental London Park Lane next year.

The new restaurant will take up a newly-created space within the 447-bedroom luxury hotel and will operate alongside Theo Randall's recently-revamped eponymous restaurant.

Ortiz, chef-patron of Dulce Patria in Mexico City, said her London restaurant would 'deliver the beauty, vibrancy and spirit of Mexico to London in a total experience of the senses.'

Officially opening early 2017, the restaurant will be designed by David Collins, the global interior architecture practice led by Creative Director Simon Rawlings, who plans to feature references to Mexican design and culture.

Ortiz, whose restaurant is number 49 in Latin America's 50 Best, has also penned eight cookbooks on regional cuisine and distinguished herself as a food writer and a leading chronicler of her country’s gastronomic history.
