The Raithwaite Hall Country Retreat, owned by York-based property company the Skelwith Group, includes the Brace Restaurant and Grill and a spa. It's opening is expected to create up to 100 jobs.

Raithwaite Hall general manager Richard Mansell said: “Whether guests are coming to visit us for a day in the spa, to experience the fantastic food served in the Brace Restaurant and Grill, or staying for a long weekend, the moment they arrive at the hotel they are guaranteed a level of service that is hard to rival.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to serve our community and visitors to Whitby. Our team of service professionals are eager to create memorable and personalised service for all in great surroundings.”

Great asset

Interior contractor DEPA, which counts The Savoy in London as a client, was responsible for developing the new hotel’s interior.

Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “Raithwaite Hall is going to be a great asset to the county and the hotel will also be a terrific base for visitors wishing to explore the rest of the county.

“Yorkshire already has one of the strongest tourism economies in the country and Raithwaite Hall really adds to what we have to offer our visitors.”

The North Yorkshire Moors National Park has become a prime location for new hotel sites in recent years. In August, budget hotel chain Travelodge invested £135m into plans to open hotels in national parks around the UK .
