Burger & Lobster: the new site includes a mezzanine level that overlooks the restaurant
A ninth Burger & Lobster has opened on the premises formerly occupied by Orchid Group’s Pacific Oriental restaurant, in the City of London.

The 300-cover Threadneedle Street site, claimed to be the biggest so far, comes with a private dining room and includes a mezzanine level that overlooks the restaurant and bar.

It will serve food under the same format as previous Burger & Lobster restaurants, with three dishes – a burger, a lobster, or a lobster roll – all priced at £20.

It is also offering a breakfast menu that includes 6oz breakfast burger with a poached egg, hash browns and beans. Additionally, there will be American-style pancakes with maple syrup and bacon; and lobster meat with scrambled eggs on a muffin served with a hot drink or juice.

Smack Lobster

Brand-owner Goodman is also set to open a second Smack Lobster Roll site, on Dean Street in Soho.

The new takeaway-only venue will serve lobster rolls and lobster salads for £10.

According to sister publication M&C Allegra, the brand is planning to grow its estate away from the capital by lined up sites in Leeds, Manchester and Bath.  It opened in Cardiff earlier this year.

The company, which launched internationally in New York last year, will open in Stockholm next month as part of a collaboration with the Swedish-based group Pontus Frithiof and Thomas Dahlstedt.

Goodman, the steakhouse group backed by Russian entrepreneur Mikhail Zelman, opened the first Burger & Lobster in London’s Mayfair, in 2011.
