Gordon Ramsay's Dubai outpost, Verre, is to relocate from its current location at the Hilton Dubai Creek to the new Conrad Dubai when it opens in 2009, according to rumours.

The 70-cover Verre was Ramsay's first restaurant outside the UK when it opened in 2001 and has seen Ramsay protégées Angela Hartnett and Jason Atherton at the helm, before their return to head up The Connaught and Maze, both in London.

The Hilton Dubai Creek has two other restaurants – Glasshouse Mediterranean Brasserie and Issimo Martini Bar, with Verre as its signature restaurant.

A source in Dubai said that the location of the original Verre is no longer the hub of Dubai that it was in 2001, when it opened, saying, "Things move so quickly round here and it takes too long to get out to Dubai Creek (business district) from the new centre."

The Conrad Dubai will open in Sheikh Zayed Road, 20 minutes from the airport and close to Dubai World Trade Centre. It will have two other restaurants and 550 bedrooms.

A Conrad spokesperson in the UK said she could not confirm the rumours, only saying "that hasn't been verified yet."
