The catering company behind London’s Sky Garden is to open a flagship restaurant at the revived Centre Point building above Oxford Street in late 2017.

The Grade II listed property was one of London’s first skyscrapers when it was built in the Sixties, and has since become one of the capital’s iconic buildings.

Now developers Almcantar are transforming the site in to 82 luxury apartments, surrounded by a 45,000 sq,ft square complete with shops and restaurants.

Rhubarb’s all-day dining restaurant will occupy the building's bridge link, overlooking Oxford Street and the new piazza.

PB Jacobse, managing director at Rhubarb, said the new concept would be ‘distinctive’ and feature a ‘bold’ design using digital art.

“We are delighted to be developing another distinctive new food and drink concept in what is one of the London’s most iconic buildings,” he said.

“Sky Garden at 20 Fenchurch Street in the City trades beyond expectations and Centre Point provides us with another opportunity to create an engaging and innovative concept, this time in the West End.”

Almacantar is aiming to re-establish Centre Point as a premium London landmark following the renovation.

Kathrin Hersel, property director at Almacantar, said the development would become 'Central London’s finest destination' when it opens next year.

Rhubarb’s portfolio also covers catering at the Royal Albert Hall, Goodwood Estate and the Royal Ascot Racecourse.
