Italian chef Andrea Secchi is to head up the kitchen at a new modern British restaurant opening in Paddington this month.

Roba – named after the kitchen’s signature robata grill – will launch at the four-star Norfolk Towers Hotel with a ‘crowd pleasing’ menu.

The ex-Tredwell’s and Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley chef will use his Michelin background to put a spin on classic dishes such as fish and chips and chicken curry.

Roba will also feature a large grill menu, including 48-day aged steaks and the ‘ultimate beef burger’.

Secchi said: “It has been a joy to channel my experience, passion and innovative spirit into creating this new menu."

An on-site bar will serve a selection of wines and cocktails such as The Roba - a medley of crushed fruit, Jägermeister, Crème de Fraise syrup and ginger beer.

Bob Touray, general manager at Roba, said: “It’s fair to say that Paddington’s gastronomic star is rising and we are very excited to be a part of it.”

The opening follows a recent renovation of the four-star Paddington hotel.

Roba will open on 11 April at Norfolk Towers Hotel, 34 Norfolk Place, London.
