Two new American TV and music-themed cafés have replaced the former Central Perk coffee shops in Liverpool.

Ameriesko has opened in Bold Street and Hatton Garden after the Friends-themed cafes closed for good in January.

The American-inspired sites combine US food with a ‘distinctly Liverpool personality’ championing independent businesses.

New features in the Bold Street site include a pool table and a TV memorabilia wall with cast signings from Sex and the City, Homeland and Breaking Bad.

It is the brainchild of Steven Hesketh, owner of the Know Hospitality Group behind Liverpool’s Richmond Apart-hotel and The R Bar & Brasseries.

“It’s the right time to give Liverpool something much more independent and local, rather than an American franchise,” said Hesketh.

“Ameriesko Liverpool celebrates everything that makes Liverpool such a vibrant and unique city and hopes to find some musical and comical talent over time – whilst celebrating American TV sitcoms and classic American music too."

Ameriesko will serve hotdogs, fries, nachos and freshly made sandwiches alongside locally sourced coffee and cakes.

Liverpool’s Joe Blacks has created two unique coffee blends for the cafes and there will be treats from the city’s renowned Dafna’s Cheescake Factory.

“We’ve hand-picked Liverpool suppliers to champion the city’s best coffee and cakes independents, and merged this to add some American classics,” said Hesketh.

“Liverpool is at the heart of the Ameriesko offering and experience.”
