Umi Sushi, the Dubai-based sushi operator, has acquired the former Obika mozzarella bar site within Club Quarters Hotel on London’s Northumberland Avenue.

The site will be the second outlet for Umi Sushi, which serves a classic sushi menu at its outlet in Jumeirah Beach Residence in Dubai, marking its first venture into the UK market.

Rob Meadows, acting agent at Davis Coffer Lyons who handled the deal, said: “Northumberland Avenue is now picking up from the buzz of Trafalgar Square with a number of hotel developments along the street in recent years. Umi Sushi’s offer will complement this.”

Obika and Club Quarter

Mozzarella ‘sushi’ operator Obika, which operates nine restaurants across Italy plus a further three in Kuwait City, Tokyo and New York, has just one remaining outlet in London at Selfridge’s.

Club Quarters Hotels has also announced the sale of Percento restaurant at its St. Paul’s site, which will reopen as Cote’s 15th site at the end of this month.
