The Cinnamon Collection, the Indian restaurant group headed up by chef Vivek Singh, is to launch a new concept Cinnamon Bazaar in Covent Garden next month.

Opening in a two-storey site in Maiden Lane, the restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as cocktails and light bites.

The 90-cover, 3,100 sq.ft site will have an average spend of £20 a head and a far larger bar operation than its sister restaurants.

It comes after the Cinnamon Collection, including the Michelin-starred Cinnamon Club, was sold to Boparan Restaurant Holdings (BRH) in January.

BRH, which also owns the Giraffe and Harry Ramsden’s chains, has already invested £10m in plans to roll out the Cinnamon Kitchen and Cinnamon Soho brands outside London.

Singh, chief executive of the Cinnamon Collection, said: “Whilst identifiable as part of the Cinnamon family in terms of quality ingredients and bold flavours, Cinnamon Bazaar offers a more casual and fun format inspired by the colourful, bustling markets of India and the bazaars scattered on the ancient Silk Route where ingredients and ideas were exchanged culturally.

“We want guests to feel it’s a place they can come and relax at any time of the day whether eating, drinking or just meeting up with friends for a chat over a chai.”

Breakfast dishes will include traditional parathas, while small plates of Kolkata spiced cod and Indo-Chinese stir-fried chicken with chilies will be available for lunch or snacks.

The restaurant will also serve Singh’s unique take on Afternoon Tea – High Chai - and non alcoholic drinks such as lassis.

Cinnamon Bazaar launches in Covent Garden at the end of November.
