Wellington Wednesdays
The Penny Black Restaurant in Chelsea is launching Wellington Wednesdays, a special menu dedicated to wellington dishes. Every week will offer three different variation of the British dish, with prices ranging from £17 for roasted vegetables to £25 for the full beef wellington. Diners can also choose from a fantastic selection of over 150 wines to accompany any Wellington dish. “Wellington Wednesdays is a celebration of this classic British dish," said Tony Ho, chef and restaurant owner. "We want to offer diners something a bit different while recognising all that is great about British cuisine. We have created a range of exciting variations of this nostalgic, decadent dish using a selection of the finest, fresh ingredients." The first Wellington Wednesday will be on 5 October.
Murder Mystery Weekend
Park Plaza Sherlock Holmes in London is holding a Murder Mystery Weekend to increase its homage to Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous fictional detective. The weekend begins with a detective-inspired walking treasure hunt, before guests are taken on a journey through the local streets to piece together clues and solve a crime. In the evening, they will observe a murder mystery unfolding before them, over cocktails and a three-course dinner. As the evening draws to a close, guests can opt for an 'under-cover’ stay at the boutique hotel. Prices for the Murder Mystery Weekend start from £144 per person including bed and breakfast.
In-room spa treatments
Guests at Mint Hotel Tower of London can now enjoy spa treatments without having to leave their room. Following the launch of in-room services in conjunction with mobile spa specialist London Serenity, guests at the hotel can choose from a wide range of massage treatments. Companies holding meetings and conferences at Mint Hotel Tower of London can also organise treatments for delegates during breakout sessions. “We always go the extra step to deliver what our guests want,” said Patrick O’Connell, general manager. “These new services will leave guests feeling even more refreshed and invigorated after a stay or meeting at the hotel.”
East Asian shopping list
Restaurant group Tampopo are now selling a range of East Asian ingredients and products at their six UK restaurants. Diners can look at the goods which are merchandised in an in-store retail display. They can then tick off their choices on a shopping list at their tables. Orders are then picked up by waiters and the cost of goods is added to the bill. Products on sale at the East Asian restaurants include palm sugar, wakame seaweed and tamarind pulp, as well as spices, condiments and gift vouchers. Tampopo co-founder Nick Jeffrey said: “This is a logical extension to our brand. Now our customers can buy the real ingredients plus a good East Asian cookbook and have a go at conjuring up their Tampopo favourites at home.”
