Classic pub dishes like fish & chips, bangers & mash and Sunday roasts are chosen by 90 per cent of diners when eating at a pub with half choosing a pub over a restaurant because of the menu.
However, two-thirds of the 400 people surveyed by The Mystery Dining Company said poor food quality was a major turn-off, more so than poor service or clientele.
Fifty-six per cent said they normally ordered one course in a pub but would be more inclined to order another if shared platters or desserts were available.
