HOLLYWOOD actor Jake Gyllenhaal is rumoured to be the latest celebrity who will get into the restaurant game.

The so-called ‘closet chef’ is said to be in the development stages of an organic restaurant project, for which he plans to travel throughout Italy collecting ideas.

The restaurant, set to open in California will form just one of a pack of celebrity backed sponsored, with the industry proving a popular second career choice for stars including Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, Eva Longoria-Parker, Sandra Bullock, Ashton Kutcher and Tara Reid.

The actor has always said he planned to open a high-end dining venue by the time he was thirty (he has three years left), as long as his acting career had put him in a position that would make that possible.

Gyllenhaal is regularly seen on Molto Mario, the hit US cookery show with Mario Batali, who is an old family friend, and is talking to chef and childhood friend Chris Fischer for the California-based project.
