Restover Lodge buys two Metro Inns

Two of the five hotels within northern budget hotel group Metro Inns have been sold.

The properties in Doncaster and Peterborough were bought by Restover Lodge owner Michelle Toms for an undisclosed sum of around £2m, adding two new hotels to the current one in Rotherham.

Agents Christie & Co have yet to sell the remaining three properties in Teeside, Newcastle and Falkirk.

Jeremy Jones, Director of Hotels at Christie & Co, said: “The sale of the Doncaster and Peterborough hotels, plus the interest we have so far received regarding the remaining three properties, shows that there is still considerable appetite for the limited-service/budget sectors.”

Metro Inns bought five ex Formula 1 hotels from Accor in 2006 before opening them under the new brand in April 2007. The hotels were put up for sale through Christie & Co in April this year.
