A chef recruitment agency has stepped forward to sponsor Aaron Craig, the chef who won a stage at the Fat Duck.

Craig (pictured right) was offered the rare chance of a month-long placement at Heston Blumenthal’s Bray restaurant, but it was thrown into jeopardy when he realised he did not have the money to pay for his accommodation.

After reading an appeal on BigHospitality, John Bowman-Baker, Managing Director of recruitment agency Gladstone Park Chefs felt obliged to help.

He said: “As a company we are dedicated to the better end of the industry and as such we are happy to give Aaron the assistance without any reward. We are doing it just to make sure that the people trying hard in the industry are getting the support they need.”

Craig said he was “really chuffed” to find a sponsor and thanked Gladstone Park Chefs for its support.

“I’m pretty much sorted now. I’m just really pleased to be able to work somewhere with such high standards and with a chef of that calibre.”
