Gordon Ramsay to open first Australian restaurant
Gordon Ramsay Holdings has announced it will be opening its fourth Maze restaurant in the new five-star hotel tower at the Crown Entertainment Complex in Melbourne.
Due to open in February 2010 alongside Crown’s yet to be named Third Hotel Tower, Maze Melbourne will be Ramsay’s first restaurant in Australia, joining the ranks with Maze London, New York and Prague.
Ramsay said: “This is our first step in bringing the Gordon Ramsay brand to Australia and after having seen Crown’s Melbourne operation feel that this is an exciting and challenging opportunity.”
Maze Melbourne will continue the brand’s menu reputation of French cuisine with an Asian influence, including dishes such as bouillabaisse of red mullet with fennel puree and halibut ravioli with braised carrots, gremolata and veal vinaigrette.
Crown’s chief executive David Courtney said: "Gordon Ramsay and Maze fit extremely well within the positioning of our new five star hotel. This continues our strategy of bringing some of the best dining experiences to Crown and Melbourne.”
Situated within the 658-bedroom hotel, Maze Melbourne will join over 40 restaurants within the Crown Entertainment Complex, which includes a casino, cinema, shopping, and the Crown Towers and Crown Promenade Hotel on Melbourne’s Southbank. Maze London was this year voted the best restaurant in Britain, in Restaurant magazine's first Top UK Restaurants list.
