Brick Lane's sixth Banglatown International Curry Festival is taking place from September 10-24 to coincide with the Brick Lane Festival.
There will be music and street entertainment.
The launch will feature the Curry Chef of the Year Competition.
• Hospitality Action is hosting its annual ball – this year called the Hospitality Cool Blue Ball – at Grosvenor House Hotel in London W1 on October 13. A Champagne reception will be followed by a four-course meal, fundraising activities and an awards presentation.
• Almeida restaurant and bar in Islington is running a series of French cookery classes from September 5 and is also launching a benefits card for regulars. The courses, which cover regions including Provence and Burgundy, cost £75 per person for the lesson and four-course meal.
• Bryn Williams has been named as Head Chef at Odette's in Primrose Hill, London. Williams previously worked at Orrery and Le Gavroche.
Joseph McColgan, who oversaw the opening of the Pigalle Club and, before that the Berkeley Square Café, will be General Manager.
