September is proving to be a good month for chefs winning doctorates.
For this month two restaurateurs/ celebrity chefs, have already been awarded honorary degrees in the first half of the month.
Ken Hom has received an honorary doctorate from Oxford Brookes University in recognition of his ‘outstanding success within the international food world'.
Hom has donated his library of more than 2,000 text books on cookery and Asian culture collected over 30 years to the department and will be appointed as a Founding Patron of the Oxford Centre for Food Studies.
Meanwhile, Jean-Christophe Novelli has been awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Bedfordshire in honour of his outstanding achievements in the culinary arts and broadcast industry.
Novelli said that he was thrilled to receive the award because it was his first ever qualification.
