The 2007 Olive Barnet Award is open until March 30 to full-time employees under 30 years old in customerfacing roles. Applicants should send a CV, an employer reference, and a 500-word answer to the following: "One of the greatest challenges facing hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism is the recruitment and retention of competent customer-facing employees. Discuss the impact that this has on the business and describe the approach you would use to resolve this issue."

The winner will go to the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne for a week-long course in Hospitality Management and will receive a £1,000 per year grant for three years. For more information go to www.springboarduk.org.uk/olive
