Carluccio's has announced that turnover for the 16 weeks to January 14 2007 increased by 22 per cent on the same period the year before, in line with the board's expectations.

Two of its mooted five stores due to open in 2007 have opened since the year end (in the Brunswick Centre and Spitalfields), with both being cash positive in their first month of trading.

The new Trafford Centre, Manchester site, and Walton-on- Thames location are expected to open in spring and summer, respectively, as part of the company's plan to continue expansion outside the Capital.

The company said that, following the lease expiring at its Neal Street restaurant site in Covent Garden, it will open "a new, larger Covent Garden store with a full restaurant and retail offering" later this financial year.
