WHO? | Sue Hawkins, former proprietor of the Fox and Goose Inn in Armscote, has transformed a rundown old coaching inn in Shipston-on-Stour into a 16-room boutique hotel with restaurant. Head Chef Richard Tustian is fresh from Quarto's Restaurant at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon. Manager Rachel Hawkins, niece of the proprietor, was also at the Fox and Goose.

ON THE MENU? | Roast Butternut Squash Soup with Crumbled Bacon and Parmesan Shavings; Warm Lobster Salad with Sun-blushed Tomatoes and Black Olives; Soy- The Temperance Going soft glazed Salmon Fillet on Wilted Spinach and Pak Choi with a Sweet Chilli Sauce; Seared Tuna Steak on Homemade Tagliatelle; Pain au Chocolat Bread and Butter Pudding with Custard.

STYLE? | Gentleman's club feel, with dark aubergine panelling; high-backed olive green suede chairs, huge Louis XV French mirrors, a ‘cutlery piano'

and sandblasted original floorboards.

SIZE? | 45 covers in the dining room, 60 in the bar and 20 in private dining.
