Whitbread has tied up its sale of TGI Friday's for £70.4million to Carlson Restaurants Worldwide. The US firm is likely to tweak the brand's target market to make it more accessible.
The company has also announced a slight increase in like-for-like sales in the first 50 weeks of its financial year to February 15. The pub restaurants, which include Brewers Fayre and Beefeater, saw like-for-like sales rise by 0.7 per cent and 2.6 per cent in total. Costa did better with like-for-like sales up 6.7 per cent and total sales up 22.1 per cent.
Alan Parker, Whitbread Chief Executive, said the pub restaurants "introduced broader menus with a wider range of price points and reduced discounts".
