WHO? | Chef Marco Torri and Manager Giovanni Baldino, two young Italians opening their first independent restaurant in Mayfair, with business partner Marino Roberto, serving modern Italian cooking. Torri, originally from northern Italy, was Head Chef at Teca from its opening until late 2005 and most recently at The Greyhound in Battersea. Baldino was previously Restaurant Manager at Locanda Locatelli.
ON THE MENU? | Home-Cured Duck Breast with Rocket, Pea Shoots and Sardinian Bread; Grilled Octopus with a Salad of Carrot, Ginger and Sarawak Pepper; Ravioli filled with Taleggio and Aubergine; Pan-Fried Fillet of Sea Bass with Chickpea Sauce and Sautéed Spinach; Free Range Italian Chicken Cooked ‘Sous Vide' with Grilled Vegetables; Domori Chocolate Tart with Bitter Almond Sauce.
STYLE? | Converted from the previously separate premises of an old-fashioned Italian café and a fish and chip shop. Walls of highly polished ebony and gold wavy-carved wood, warm oak flooring, cream and brown leather seating and a hand-made Murano chandelier at the entrance.
