It was a night to remember – 100 catering college students celebrating their success on board The Symphony cruising the River Thames. The regional winners were announced before the overall winner…

In The North Manchester College of Arts and Technology fought off competition from Huddersfield Technical College and Castle College Sheffield. Our judges remarked on Manchester's highly motivated team and also on its winning and friendly approach.

In Scotland and Northern Ireland Cardinal Newman High School beat competing colleges Forth Valley and Adam Smith. The judges commented on the great achievement of students aged 14 and 15 performing so well at such a high standard against students considerably older than themselves.

Wales, Midlands and The West Northampton College won its regional heat, knocking out fellow participants Buxton College of Further Education and Coleg Llandrillo. The judges commented on its plentiful ability as well as its enthusiasm, energy and confidence.

The East Colchester Institute was up against Cambridge Regional College and Great Yarmouth College. But it beat off the competition with what the judges noted as its professional presentation and excellent originality of its dishes.

And the winner of College Restaurant of the Year 2007 is...

In its region, TVU outshone Westminster Kingsway, Oxford Brooks and Lewisham College and, of course, pipped all the other regional winners to the post.

The judges were particularly impressed with the excellent and very mature front of house team, wellbalanced menu and very good presentation.

The London School, located at Thames Valley University, is not only basking in the glory of its success, but has been awarded the enviable prize of sending 15 of its students to venues across the Caprice Holdings portfolio of London restaurants, where they will gain invaluable experience: Le Caprice, The Ivy, J Sheekey, Daphne's, Bam-Bou
