The Forum of Private Business is asking MPs to support an Early Day Motion set down by Conservative leader David Cameron, which opposes changes to new Health and Safety regulations, due to come in later this month, for companies having building work carried out.

The FPB said the new Construction Design and Management regulations would mean that the businesses having the work carried out would now become responsible, rather than the construction firm.

Victoria Carsons, FPB's Campaign's Manager, said, "In reality, smaller businesses having building work carried out for the first time are not going to have the slightest idea about what rules and regulations they must comply with."

There will now be a debate about the proposals after Easter.
