Glenfiddich names tastiest frontrunners for 37th food and drink critics awards
The shortlists for the Glenfiddich Food & Drink Awards 2007 have been announced, with the winners to be unveiled at Sketch in London on May 14.
Terry Durack of the Independent on Sunday Review is up against fellow journalist Tracey MacLeod from The Independent Magazine and Joanna Blythman from the Sunday Herald in the Restaurant Critic category. Durack won in 2005, MacLeod in 2003. Blythman has never won but has received five awards in other categories. Last year, the judges said none of the nominees deserved the award.
Other categories include Regional Writer, where Alastair Gilmour (also in the running for Drink/Bar Writer) for The Journal in Newcastle is competing with Mark Taylor of Bristol Evening Post/West Country Life and Andrew Hobbs of Pure Taste. Two Condé Nast Traveller photographers, David Cicconi and Roberto Frankenberg, are battling against Feast's Jonathan Lovekin. Cookery Writer will go to Elisabeth Luard in The Oldie, Mark Hix for The Independent Magazine or Angela Nilsen at BBC Good Food magazine.
The judges include restaurateur Bruce Poole, Master of Wine Sarah Jane Evans and Restaurant's Joe Warwick.
