Hospitality Action and Springboard UK have joined together to launch Spring2Action, a joint fund-raising initiative to encourage restaurateurs to add voluntary donations to customers' bills throughout 2007.

The money raised will be used by Springboard to support young, unemployed and disadvantaged people with the skills to find employment in the industry, while Hospitality Action will provide help to those in the industry who have fallen on hard times through no fault of their own. Both charities will also try to educate people in the industry about addiction to drugs or alcohol.

Penny Moore, Chief Executive of Hospitality Action, explained, "By working together our charities can make sure that the money raised is equally spread and used where it is needed most."

Brian Turner, patron of Hospitality Action, added, "While we enjoy good food, wine, accommodation, entertainment and service, it is worth remembering that there are others who are not so fortunate. Both of our industry charities work hard to help people who are disadvantaged to help themselves and get a better life."
