The idea of drinking to ‘balance yourself' might seem like a novel concept to those of us who generally sup for precisely the opposite reason but that's how the Tzu sells itself. This range of Far Eastern inspired, UK made health-promoting soft drinks includes cordials and still flavours but it's their sparkling varieties, namely peach and apple, that have made their way to our desk. Named after the Mandarin word for vinegar, by virtue of the fact that it contains Sorghum vinegar, the rejuvenating effects of which the Chinese swear by. Mixed with little more than water and fruit, it makes for a crisp, refreshing drink and would make an ideal aperitif or a companion to Japanese food for those who, for whatever reason, wish to forsake sake. JW £8.90 for a case of 10 of 250ml bottles.
